Memory-Erasing Tool for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder

Instructions: Stare at the shifting (back-and-forth) visual pattern, below, while recalling a traumatic memory. Back-and-forth eye movements during memory recall may reduce the intensity and details of the original memory, according to the latest research. Each time you remember something, your original memory is altered as it is re-consolidated into the brain.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) is a therapeutic process in which the technique is to "...recall the memory in detail while rapidly moving your eyes back and forth, as if you are watching a high-speed Ping-Pong match." (from the latest research). The results of EMDR can be mild or dramatic, depending on the patient. (A calm, supportive setting is essential, and the process often takes several sessions to complete.) When EMDR is successful, the original memory's traumatic intensity is lessened.

Please note that this online BETA tool from Mind Bluff remains untested in clinical trials. If used as directed, it might help participants to dilute their original memories. WARNING: Do not use with pleasant memories.
